$20 Minimum Wage Town Hall with Citizen Action!

  • Green Bay Labor Temple 1570 Elizabeth Street Green Bay, WI, 54302 United States (map)

A $20 minimum wage will create jobs and more prosperity in every Wisconsin community. When corporations take more than their share, they extract money (and jobs) from our communities, investing anywhere they can make the most profit and buying more status symbols like vacation homes and luxury yachts. When typical Wisconsinites make a living wage, they spend it on essentials, such as groceries, child care, school supplies, rent, and long term care for our elders, employing more people and making our communities thrive. This especially helps small businesses throughout Wisconsin and their workers, because they provide goods and services to the working and middle class.

This Town Hall focuses specifically on raising the Minimum Wage to $20 in Wisconsin, a measure being championed by Citizen Action in the bill they have proposed to get us there! According to the MIT Living Wage Calculator, living as a single person without kids in Green Bay currently requires a job paying $21.29 just to meet the bare minimum to survive, and this was configured before the Trump - Iran War or Trumpflation economics flushed our economy down the toilet. It is HIGH TIME our businesses were required to pay workers a wage they can actually live on, and while $20 an hour still falls short, this is a definite step in the right direction and I’m happy to align with Citizen Action on this Town Hall to fight for Wisconsin workers! Come to the Town Hall and I’ll be looking for you!
