AI Data Needs Real Life Regulations
The AI data center boom in our communities has gone on widely unregulated and is seemingly off the rails.
There needs to be a federal moratorium in place that halts any further data center construction until a list of key guidelines are established and implemented. Studies need to be conducted of the long term effects these large centers would have on our communities and citizens; studies done by independent analysts but paid for by the corporations benefiting from and building the data centers. Federal standards of protection need to be clearly determined and set as the benchmark all data centers need to adhere to with regard to respecting our communities, our citizens, and our environment. Our citizens shouldn't be feeling any negative impacts at all from the existence of these centers and neither should our environment. This is the level of standard I will solemnly defend.
With the rolling back of environmental protections at the federal level, it has become crystal clear to me that this administration has no intention of holding these AI data centers to any level of accountability. Their utter disregard covers the entire gamut of center construction to the maintenance and existence of the centers. This is unacceptable, which is why they all need to be halted and studied before any more lives are detrimentally affected and before any more of our Wisconsin landscape is destroyed forever.
